THIS THE DAY THAT THE LORD HAS MADE & I WILL REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN IT!
with this Blog Hop. She will have been gone from us about 24 yrs, I know every chance we
get allof us grandkids and especially her children tell of time when we had a chance to be
with her.
Grandma, loved jewelry and pretty things and from what was in her jewelry box all that
sparkled. At her passing mom and I picked out a few things for keepsakes.....one of which
was a blue and gold pendant.
Well for years my mom and I shared this necklace without mishap, well about 2 years ago
my mom gave it to me for Christmas and then disaster strikes!
I wore it to work one day perfectly fine but when I get home it is chipped! I am horrified,
upset that I broke it, and no I haven't told my mom yet!
So I wanted to try and remake or make a likeness of it for the Hop by using wire wrapping,
hmmm let's just say that I suck...oops Sorry grandma..lol!
I faired better at making a pair of funky copper/gold and royal blue earrings. I fashioned
them out of copper & gold wire with royal blue seed beads.
I will be presenting them to my mom, Celia J. Parks, of course I'll tell her why she is getting
I love and miss my Grandma, and I am thankful everyday she raised such a beautiful &
strong woman like my mother!
strong woman like my mother!
Thanks for coming by and enjoy the rest of the hop!

Wait! I forgot the reason why I wanted to start a blog in the first place, which was to take
part in honoring a fellow beader who recently lost her life to Illness ...this excerpt is from
the original announcement:
who mean a lot to us -- a mom, a friend, a brother-- anyone who has meaning to us.
Create a piece of jewelry that tells that story.
Blessings Zia aka Anzia Parks

Cute story. My grandma loved her jewelry, too, I'm sure that's where I inherited it from. I"m sure your mom will love the earrings :)

I also treasure the few pieces of jewelry from my Grandmother! Beautiful earrings, and I'm sure your Mom will cherish them!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, shame about the original piece but I bet your Grandma would love to see your mum sporting a lovely pair of earrings made by you. Anyone who can look so good in such a fantastic hat clearly has excellent taste
ReplyDeleteI love the story behind the earrings you made and the color choice with the blue is really pretty! <3
ReplyDeleteYour earrings are lovely - I'm sure your mom will treasure them!
ReplyDeleteWe have to know where we come from to know where we are going. Your mom will love the memory earrings for her mother. As for the "bad" language, Grandma Rosa will probably forgive you this time!
ReplyDeleteYou designed a wonderful pair of earrings. Thanx for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I have had that happen with special pieces handed down. I am sure that you will find a way to use it in something special. Thank you for sharing your story and your creation. Enjoy the day! Erin

ReplyDeleteGrandmothers are truly treasures and yours was no exception. I wish I could be there to see the smile you create on your mothers face when she gets the lovely earrings! Thanks for sharing! Hope you enjoyed the hop!

Sometimes the loveliest things come out of desperation and accidental mishaps...and your earrings are proof of that! It seems to me that your grandmother was one of a long line of amazing ladies!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to make something to replace the broken piece. I know your mom will love it and of course she will forgive you. That's what mom's do.
ReplyDeleteLove the earrings! Best of luck with the necklace.
ReplyDeleteWhat cool earrings! I'm guessing your mum must be a super-cool, stylish woman if you're gifting her those :-). It was good to read about the strong wonderful women you have in your family. All the best in fixing your grandma's pendant.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work and thank you for sharing ...
ReplyDeletePeace and Love...
